Toolangi Tavern

Jason has come to the tavern as the next step in his career. Since being at the tavern he has brought a great team together to buiId an even stronger team.

He grew up in Wantirna and moved to the Yarra Valley eight years ago, where he started his apprenticeship in 2000 at the Riberry Cafe in Yarra Junction.

After the Riberry Cafe closed he moved to Healesville Hotel where he finished his apprenticeship.

When his apprenticeship finished, travel beckoned and he headed to the Cook Islands. He found work there as a junior Sous Chef at a 4 star resort.

Jason eventually returned to Australia, and back to his beloved yarra valley, where he returned to work at the Healesville Hotel as Sous Chef.

In July 2008, he moved to Toolangi Tavern as head chef. I love working here and the tranquil surroundings of the Toolangi State Forest and the delightful hamlet of Toolangi are an added bonus.

Jason has an apprentice working under him and he also has two assistant chefs. After sampling the food that gets served up to you, you realise that Jason & his assistants love good food and the need to share it with others.

Jason has settled into Healesville with his wife and two children. The couple also have his 9 year old sister-in-law who he has brought to Australia for her education.
